As China continues to rise without any signs of stoping, it seems more and more likly that America is going to be second place. Will America fall into second, or will china succues stop and America will be number one until the next up and coming country wants to take first. What do you think?

What I would love to see is this:

British Commonwealth of nations

(United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, India, Australia, Nepal, South Africa)

vs

United States Of Amercia

vs

Europeon Union

vs

The Alliance of East Asia and  Europe

(Russia, China, N.Korea)

If China disappeared, India will replace it as the default world manufacturing center, or maybe we will have south america to do it.

China and India represent a modern shift in what defines a (future) superpower over previous ones.  Initially Europe, the UK in paticular, had operated in a very overt method of direct control by colonization.  The US and Soviet Union followed a somewhat more covert method during the cold war.  China's behavior is realitively benign by comparison.  It is not actually conquering nations but focuses on expanding itself in any way possible.  That includes consuming any foreign resource available to further fuel that expansion.

To sum up visually, if European imperialism, polarized Cold war states, and China could be different types of cancer then imagine the first two classified malignant while China would be a benign case and contained until of course it grows too big or mutates into something else.

Not with the Socialist (oops I mean Modern Democrats) in charge. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck

How can anyone think America will always be a superpower and not be delusional? Unless someone has figured out to make the perfect government and cured all diseases and solved world hunger and created permanent world peace then no of course America will not always be a superpower.

I am always dismayed to see people acting like America will be around for a billion years or something. No nation has ever lasted for all of human history and those that were very long lived eventually collapsed or were destroyed or became a mere shadow of their former selves. Take the British government for example. They are long past their prime. America will inevitably be the same just as the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Babylonian Empire, the Greeks, etc. etc.

Well we (US) just need to beat the record set by the Romans (1000 years or so.)

No America will not always be on top as others say (and I'm a proud America well with the exception of are current Socilist leader.) I think that what we will see as time moves on is a move toward a one world government and then that government being made up and blended with Governements from around the world will then be the world power. I just hope it will be a Democratic Captilist government. But we will see.

why the hell do so many people think that Obama is socialist? He's right wing... borderline republican.

Because some of us actully listens to what he and his Democrat croonies say instead of allowing the media to destract us.  I have a question for you how come when a Repulican does something wrong the Obama media jumps thier thier shit but when a Democrat does something wrong you will rarely hear a peep about it. I remember a time not so long a go when the media would jump anyones shit Rep or Dem but now they have moved to the left. And this above all else is the most troubling.

All I know is Obama has spent a HELL of alot more money in his first year then Bush did in the midst of the Iraq War. Im not defending Bush believe me he was an idiot.

But seriously, Bush didnt start this recession...why someone would blame something that started back before clinton confuses me. But Obama has admitted he his plan to fix the economy isnt working. And its been known since before Obama got into office that those stimulis packets werent trickling down to where it needed to go in the banks and institutions grabbing for federal money. Yet he continued to sign the damn things after he got in office. And with every stimulus we learn about more and more companies mismanaging the federal funds their given to pull their asses out of debt.

I know Obama wasnt in office during this time, but its the prime example why federal funding to save these corrupt corporations should have stopped when he took the oath. AIG went bankrupt....(when a corp goes belly up you can bet your sweet ass its the people at the top to blame) yet AIG immediately starts handing out Bonus's to the idiots directly at fault for the companies money woes.

The point is this guy is no better then Bush. They might have different issues to contend with, but their lack of knowledge about what they are making decisions on is baffling. The fact they need an advisor whos an expert on the subject telling them the right course of action hints at the fact that he may very well be getting false information fed to him and making the wrong decisions about issues the country is facing.

Im just tired of picking between the nutjobs and the idiots and choosing the lesser of two evils. I want some real canidates with something to actually bring to the table. Not someone who cant stick to his own agenda or isnt intelligent enough to make a decision without having his VP whispering in his ear what to do.

sure, whatever you say.

I cant imagine how Obama could be right wing. That doesnt make even the slightest sense.

Which reminds me that the United States government is definitely not going to remain a superpower if the populace is ignorant and cares more for a stupid show (American Idol) than the political process. Democracy relies on an educated populace who makes intelligent or at least well thought out decisions.

The United States started declining when people started voting for the prettiest face or minorities just because hes a minority. Half the people dont even know what Obama supports or advocates for.

It's a matter of perspective. Compared to Mussolini, Bush was a hippie. I could see how someone in a parliamentary system, where parties run the gamut, might think that Obama was centrist or center-right.

American politics as a whole is very (very very) "right wing," thus even the most "liberal" politicians are often only middle of the road at best. Sure, there are a few uber-left wingers, but they usually don't ever get elected. Obama is to the right of center; ask any political professor and they could explain it much better than I could.

It's a matter of perspective.

yeah, with the people who've taken political science on one side and the people who play WOW during class on the other, lol.
