When i used it .. it did use alot more resources than i cared for a virus protection to use.But thats just me ... im a speed freak (i dropped $400 on a 80GB SSD hard-drive so i could have like instant load times) .
I am guessing you were using a pre 2009 version of Norton? As I posted above, Norton was re-written from the ground up and is the lowest system resources (according to Maximum PC Magazine), even less than NOD32
I am find the issue if you would like.
I tried it about a year ago and it cratered my system such that I had to rebuild from scratch. Vipre is way too aggressive.
Spydoctor from google~~ Pretty good and free~
I use Eset Smart Security 4 in conjunction with A-Squared Anti-Malware. They are both from the same company. A-Squared is ranked #1 in malware detection, over Eset, Norton, Kaspersky, AVG, Avast and all the other biggies. I believe I am well protected but every month I run K7 Security just to feel more secure. I used to monthly run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware but they never found anything. I am a writer and I research all over the web.. there are lots of "gotchas" out there that seem perfectly innocent. I recommend Firefox or Comitbird for your browser and add the WOT extension which warns against possible bad sites when you link to them.
Wow. You must feel VERY insecure online. Do you also wear a bullet-proof vest when you go shopping?
No but I wear a barb deflector.
I use Microsoft security essentials it is free and really not a bad AV,I use it in conjunction wirh Super Anti Spyware, Maleware Bytes, and Spyware Blaster. On My laptop I use Kaspersky along with all the other programs I mentioned above
Overkill...
